Raquel Ornelas: I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor. As a clinician, I take an active, energetic, challenging and provocative approach to therapy in order to effect transformation. I use mindfulness in conjunction with choice theory. I do not believe in the disease/medical model of mental illness and I want to effect change in the mental health system. I want to bring dignity, respect, integrity, freedom, responsibility and choice to mental health. Apart from my clinical work, I'm investigating ways to accomplish this goal and it may be the founding of a nonprofit organization based on these ideals.
